Landlord And Tenant Disputes

The regulations concerning landlords and property owners are constantly evolving, with rent stabilization laws and rent control among the most challenging for landlords. Our office will work with you to ensure that your rights are strongly defended and that you are well-advised and represented in matters brought before the Housing Court, Civil Court, or Supreme Court.

Matters involving land use require matters to be brought before the City Planning Commission, the Board of Standards and Appeals, the Department of Buildings, the Landmarks Preservation Commission, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, and the Economic Development Corporation. We advise and represent  our clients with a focus on achieving developmental objectives.

We represent property owners, professional developers, investors, architects, planners, and engineers.

Appeals

New York Appellate Courts allow attorneys to bring cases for review of decisions by lower-level courts. Appellate decisions set new precents. At Roy Farid LLP, we have experience in both bringing and defending appeals and can assist in all phases of the process – including the preparing briefs, perfecting the record, identifying particular strengths and weaknesses in the appellate court record, and dealing with applications for further appellate review if required.

Appellate law requires a very different skill set than a standard litigation case – it requires an attorney who can accurately identify mistakes of law, misinterpretations of the record below, and/or the application of incorrect facts to case law. At Farid Law Office we work on appeals arising from our cases and those handled by other law firms. We argue appeals in all New York State Appellate Courts, including the Court of Appeals.
